Mary Symons is a speaker on modern day Japanese and Korean (North and South) lifestyle and culture.

She also specialises in practical demonstration and teaching of Ikebana (Japanese Floral Art) and the Tea Ceremony.

Mary received her training in Japan and the UK, combining these skills now as as a qualified teacher, speaker and cruise line presenter covering a wide range of topics on Asian lifestyle.

This has provided an opportunity to meet British Royal Family and Asian dignitaries, in showing an insight to these countries, still unknown to many Westerners. She has travelled extensively throughout Japan, Korea and the Far East to experience their way of life and culture.

Hosting teaching workshops, Mary has taught the techniques of Ikebana to many hundreds of people throughout the UK, Europe and the Middle East. Separately, as a business woman, she runs a company, Kyoto Designs, based in the UK, specialising in the commercial supply of Ikebana.

Qualifying with the Ohara School of Ikebana, one of the three most famous schools in Japan, she found that gaining levels of qualification in 'flower arranging' was a very serious business to the Japanese and in particular to large companies in London, who wanted to ensure that they were getting the 'real thing' before becoming commercial clients of her company.

It is the unexpected and varied modern day lifestyle which countries such as Japan and Korea offer; something that many are then keen to experience first hand for themselves.
